AMBLER BEER COMPANY is a craft brewery located in Ambler, PA. Situated on the Ambler Yards campus, the 4,500 square foot facility boasts a 10-barrel brewing system and an 1,800 square foot tap room with 12 beers on tap. Our canned beer fridge consistently has at least 15 beers for your take home pleasure. We also self-distribute our canned beer to local distributors in the Southeast PA area, and you can find our beer on tap at local restaurants and bars.
We focus on brewing beer in a variety of styles, including hoppy IPAs, Belgians, and German style Lagers. Of highest importance to Ambler Beer Company is the desire to craft well balanced beers, using high quality grains from Germany and Britain, and hops that provide a distinct flavor for beer that is pleasing to the palate.
Founder and Head Brewer Doug Buddle had been a home brewer for over thirty years when he decided to pursue his dream of opening a brewery.
Originally from Upstate New York, Doug graduated from RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) and relocated to the Ambler area in 1988 for what turned out to be a 31-year career at Johnson & Johnson.
He first lived on Heckler Street, right across the street from Ambler Fireplace and Patio, who advertised a home brewing kit for sale, so Doug bought the kit that came with a bucket, malt extract and a few other necessary items and he made his first batch of beer in the basement. It wasn’t very good, but it sparked a new hobby. Soon he was researching how to make beer using grain and hops and became an early customer at Keystone Homebrew Supply in the Montgomery Mart on Route 309.
Over the years, Doug entered many local and regional home brew competitions and won his fair share of ribbons, including taking first place in the first annual Preston and Steve WMMR Morning Show Homebrew Competition in 2011. The prize awarded Doug his first commercial brew of one of his recipes on the equipment at Triumph Brewery in Old City. He was hooked and had a new goal to become a commercial Brewer. A couple of business plan revisions later and Ambler Beer Company opened in August 2019.
Our goal is to have a tap list where you can always find a style that you like, and might even be surprised by!
